Businesses and homeowners in Turlock have an opportunity to help Google with a research project.

Businesses and homeowners in Turlock have an opportunity to help Google with a research project.

Google is looking for people willing to install a specialized Internet antenna on their homes or business buildings which will help Google learn how to deliver Internet connectivity.

Anyone who participates will help Google load test the system during its research flights over the next few months. According to Google, “load testing involves putting demand on the system and then measuring its response. During these research flights, you will be invited to install a specialized Internet antenna on your home or business building which will help us learn how to deliver reliable, fast Internet connectivity to as many people as possible.”

"We imagine someday you'll be able to use your cell phone with your existing service provider to connect to the balloons and get connectivity where there is none today," Project Loon head Mike Cassidy wrote in a blog post last June.

Google is looking for participants in Turlock and Merced as well as Madera, Chowchilla and Mariposa.

Anyone interested in the project is asked to fill out the online survey
